Fitra, also known as Zakat-ul-Fitr, is a compulsory charity that every Muslim must give during the month of Ramadan, before the Eid-ul-Fitr prayer.

Fitra is traditionally given as staple food such as rice, wheat, dates, or raisins. The required quantity is approximately 1 Saa‘ (about 2.5–3 kg) per person.
Many mosques allow paying the cash equivalent based on current local market prices.
